--Corrie ten Boom was a Dutch watchmaker who became a heroine of the Resistance, a survivor of Hitler's concentration camps, and one of the most remarkable evangelists of the twentieth century. In World War II she and her family risked their lives to help Jews and underground workers escape from the Nazis, and for their work they were tested in the infamous Nazi death camps. Only Corrie [in her 50s at the time] among her family survived to tell the story of how faith ultimately triumphs over evil* [and that Jesus is Victor]. The very first book I read as a Christian was the Hiding Place and I was so impacted by it. I will never forget the scene where everyone hate the gather room they were able to go to once a day and the fleas were horrible. I think it was either Corrie or her sister who prayed for the fleas, and to show them the good in it. The guards wouldn't come into the room with them because of all the fleas and therefore they were able to talk to others about God. Incredible! Corrie was such an inspiration and testimony of living what she believed!
I love to read The Hiding Place every few years. A couple of years ago I purchased three or four of her other books and was blessed by them too. Her life was so glorifying to God!
