Dear Lord,
I do not ask that thou shouldst give me
some high work of thine,
some noble calling or some wonderous task.
Give me a little hand to hold in mine.
Give me a little child to point the way,
over the strange sweet path that leads to thee.
Give me a little voice to teach to pray,
Give me two shining eyes thy face to see.
The only crown I ask, Dear Lord to wear is this,
that I may teach a little child.
I do not ask that I may ever stand
among the wise the worthy or the great.
I only ask that softly hand-in-hand,
a child and I may enter at the gate.

How sweet is that!!!!
My Mom used to recite this to me:
God's choicest pearl, a little girl
Thou didst lend to me,
Be thou ever near
That I may worthy be.
-------------
Now don't get too sentimental over that she also sent me money one time and the card read:
Please do spend this for a curl
so you will be a pretty girl.
Glory be then no more,
will be that shepdog at my door.
Love Mom.
Love, love, love it!!! Such darling babes!! And, what a wonderful prayer!! I need to copy that...and P-Dot's too!! :D
Wow - loved both yours and P-Dots poems. The constant goal of being all that we can for our precious children. Viewing them each day as the Blessing that they are. You don't want to dwell too long on the mess making nerve wracking side of motherhood. Its just not HEALTHY. ;0) Love ya!
